Are Therapy dogs the same as service or Assistance dogs?
NO. A therapy dog is not the same as a service or assistance dog. Service or Assistance dogs are covered by the ADA and can go places where dogs normally are not allowed (stores, restaurants, airplanes). Therapy Dogs do NOT have such special privileges. There are legal penalties for those who misrepresent their dogs as service or assistance dogs when they are not.
